The 274 bed student residence is based on the edge of the Durham Conservation area named after the battle of Neville’s Cross, which took place in the area in 1346.

The project, designed by GWP Architects, consists of 274 high quality en-suite studio bedrooms across six blocks. The buildings are designed to reach BREEAM Outstanding rating, making it one of the most sustainable student campuses in the UK.
NOVO were appointed by Eco-Res to provide Mechanical and Electrical design and consultancy services.

The construction utilises a number of construction methods and technologies, including off-site manufactured bathroom pods, CHP, LED lighting, but most importantly a fabric first approach minimising heating loads combined with heat recovery ventilation for additional energy efficiency.
