NOVO Integration Ltd were appointed by T Clarke to develop the employers requirements and provide a detailed design for the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health services detailed design for the new Fire Station and Safety Centre in Lymm, Cheshire.
The building of a new fire station and safety centre in Lymm is part of a comprehensive plan to improve response times across Cheshire, Halton and Warrington.
The new fire station houses a number of specialist vehicles due to its close location to the motorway network. The Safety Centre is used for on-site operational training.
The Safety Centre also delivers educational programmes that aim to reduce accidental deaths and injuries from fire, at home, on the road and in the community. This will help the Service fulfil its statutory duty to prevent fires and other emergencies, as well as supporting work towards the wider health, wellbeing and community safety priorities of local communities.
The programmes are targeted at schools, new parents and the carers of older and vulnerable people and cover the hazards that they are most likely to encounter. Learning takes place in a series of purpose-built indoor scenarios designed to be realistic, immersive and interactive including:
-
A lifesize three-bedroom house
-
A typical Cheshire ‘A’ road meandering through an urban and rural setting
-
A courtroom, A&E treatment area, shop, police custody suite and e-safety lab
-
A farm, railway station, urban park, forest, canalside and open water
-
A 360 degree immersive virtual learning zone

BIM software and tools were used throughout the design and build process. The team shared 3D models weekly, enabling the team to spot and rectify design anomalies prior to the construction phase. This ensured the scheme was completed on time and to budget. The project achieved a BREEAM Rating of 'GOOD'.
