July marks five years since the very conception of NOVO, when Ben Duckworth and Gavin Power first embarked upon their partnership in 2013 and decided to do things differently.
Five years later, we are celebrating new faces, promotions, award shortlistings and, of course, the Yarnbury Beer Festival!
The month commenced with Nathan Kelly, our new student engineer, joining us from the University of Bath. Like his predecessor, Pete Matthews (who returned to Sheffield Hallam University at the end of June), Nathan is currently in his second year of studying Mechanical Engineering and has aspirations within the built environment industry. Nathan will be spending his ‘sandwich year’ within the NOVO offices, developing his understanding, gaining valuable experience and learning more about the role of a Mechanical Design Engineer.
The patience and approachability of everyone in the office has been crucial in helping me to feel settled as part of the team. I look forward to further developing my knowledge and skills over the course of the next 11 months”
Fellow student at NOVO, Jake Allister, has also experienced a wave of success in the month of July. Jake has been promoted from CAD & Revit Trainee to CAD & Revit Technician, as a reflection of his ongoing dedication and efforts towards his work.
Not only this, but he has been shortlisted in the CIBSE Yorkshire 2018 Awards, in the Apprentice of the Year category! The whole NOVO Team wish Jake the very best of luck at the awards ceremony in November – where we will also be head-to-head with three local firms for the Small Consultancy of the Year award! Other exciting promotions within the team see Chris Proctor and Cameron Nelson climbing the ranks, with Chris progressing from Project Electrical Engineer to Senior Electrical Engineer and Cameron ascending from CAD & Revit Technician to CAD & Revit Manager. Congratulations to both on your well-deserved new titles.
Finally, falling at the end of the month, Yarnbury Beer Festivalprovided a perfect afternoon to celebrate our collective successes. With an immense selection of beers and ciders to choose from and a great variety of live music, we had a truly brilliant day networking with local industry professionals whilst supporting our local real ale market. We even sponsored a beer at the event – Rudgate Brewery’s Brew No. 33!
We have a lot to look forward over the coming months, with our official fifth birthday celebrations in September and the CIBSE Yorkshire Awards in November, and many exciting projects commencing across the region that we cannot wait to get started on in between!
